About Rachel A. Young:
Biography & Education
Dr. Young is the Program Director of Corewell Health Grosse Pointe Family Medicine Residency in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. After five years in private practice, she joined academic medicine. She is passionate about the business of medicine and became certified in practice management in 2021. As a teacher, she challenges learners to identify advocating for the profession as part of our duty as physicians.
Dr. Young is a nationally recognized leader and conference speaker. She has spoken about advocacy at state and national conferences, including AOA DO Day on the Hill. From 2015 to 2020, she served on the Board of Governors of the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians (MAOFP), and in 2018-2019 was the association’s youngest president to date. In 2021, Dr. Young was recognized as the ACOFP New Osteopathic Physician of the Year. In 2022, she was honored as the National Emerging Leader.
Dr. Young embodies what it means to be an advocate to the profession. She personally writes and edits resolutions for Michigan annually. She has been the MAOFP Advocacy Chair for nearly a decade. She has served as a delegate for MAOFP and Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) since 2014.
In 2013, Dr. Young attended the ACOFP Future Leaders Conference and has been asked back as a mentor 3 times. For over the past decade she has consistently attended the ACOFP convention and served on several committees including Resolution Review, Constitution and Bylaws, and Convention Planning. She has been Vice Chair of Women’s Leadership and Future Leaders. She chairs the MOA Women of Excellence Committee. One of her greatest accomplishments has been to design, implement, and lead the MOA Osteopathic Women’s Leadership Institute which seeks to empower and enable women to be leaders in their communities and within our osteopathic organizations.
