About Ly Nguyen:

Biography & Education

Ly Nguyen is an osteopathic medical student at Des Moines University, where he is expected to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2027. He graduated magna cum laude from University of California Irvine with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Sciences.

Ly’s passion for family medicine and student advocacy is reflected in his national leadership roles, including serving as Chair of the ACOFP Student Education Committee, where he lead initiatives such as student publications, webinars, and educational content. He has also served as President of DMU-COM’s student chapter, helping grow membership and earning national recognition for chapter improvement.

His commitment to service and patient care is demonstrated through extensive volunteer work, including providing care at a free clinic, supporting individuals in crisis as a Crisis Text Line counselor, and coordinating outreach for unhoused communities. Ly also brings a strong background in research, clinical work, and teaching, further shaping his well-rounded approach to medicine.

In his free time, Ly enjoys lion dancing, playing Quidditch, practicing Aikido, bouldering, and pickleball, as well as carpool karaoke.
