About Bhumika Patel:
Biography & Education
Bhumika Patel, DO is a PGY-2 Family Medicine resident at the University of Connecticut, where she serves the greater Hartford community. She earned dual undergraduate degrees in Microbiology and Nutrition & Food Sciences from the University of Vermont and completed her medical education at Western University of Health Sciences. She also holds a 200-hour yoga teacher certification, reflecting her passion for wellness and holistic care.
Dr. Patel was drawn to family medicine for its broad scope of practice and unique ability to create meaningful change at both the individual and community levels. Her involvement with ACOFP began as a medical student through research and leadership opportunities, including contributing to national literature reviews and serving on the Think Tank initiative. She joined the Resident Council to continue advocating for the future of osteopathic family medicine, collaborate with like-minded colleagues, and develop solutions that strengthen the specialty and improve patient care. Outside of residency, she enjoys spending time in nature, traveling, cooking, attending live music and festivals, and learning new skills. An experienced yoga instructor, she also loves sharing yoga and meditation and is always ready to create a delicious meal from whatever ingredients happen to be on hand.
